Dr. J's Vacation Italian Style

  July 4th through July 15th, 2006

                  My family and I arrived in Milan, Italy, on the 4th of July.  I rented a van,

                  and we began an adventure of driving with the Italians! 

                  The motorcyclists, scooters, and bicyclists are accustomed to sharing the road

                  with motor vehicles, and it seemed to me everyone broke the rules.  I had to

                  learn quickly to watch for motorcyclists passing on double yellow lines, in

                  between lanes, and even jumping curbs!  It was crazy, but we had the time of

                  our lives. 

                  We traveled from Milan to Venice, and on to Pisa and Assisi.  We then

                  progressed to Rome.  Following Rome, we traveled to visit a friend of ours

                  who was studying Italian, and spent a night at a monastery near Pacentro.

                  From Pacentro, we traveled to the Amalfi Coast staying in Positano.  The

                  mountain roads were amazing.  We visited Pompei, and began the final leg

                  of our Italian adventure.

                  We returned to Rome to fly home.  We almost missed our connecting flight

                  in France, and lost one bag of luggage... the bag containing my car keys!
